The tips I was given for welding on this truss. Clamp, clamp, clamp. Tack, tack, tack. Move around, don’t let heat build up in any one area. Move slowly and let it cool. Took us about 6 hours between cleaning, prepping, preheating and welding.

Becoming a better grinder is no excuse for not being a better welder. But in the meantime …..

Installed a truss on a friend’s Dana 30 front axle. I must admit, my welding is a little out of practice. These could look a LOT better. They’re structurally sound, but I can do better. A few of these are going to get ground out and redone.

Had some fun with this big boy welding some aluminum. But kept tripping the 50A breaker it was tied into. 😂 •

Stitch welding the armor extension to keep it from warping. Heat control.

Weld Wednesday. Second time ever TIG welding. First time ever welding aluminum. Beginners luck. It went downhill from here. 😂
