Machining some mystery metal for a project.
Machining some mystery metal for a project. Still learning proper speeds and feeds on the lathe. This chip just didn’t want to break.

I tried giving the white vinegar soak another try.
I tried giving the white vinegar soak another try and see how effective it is for removing mill scale. Wow. It didn’t work this well last time I did. I’m a believer.

Got some much needed and deserved trail therapy in at Windrock Offroad Park
Got some much needed and deserved trail therapy in at Windrock Offroad Park in Tennessee. Along with three other friends, we spend 3 days and drive 67 miles of trails, including Trail 16, mostly blues and blacks. Thought about running some reds, but decided to reserve that for the next trip here when we have more time to pull winch cable. ;)

The light at the end of the tunnel!.
The light at the end of the tunnel! I have the primary gear train reinstalled and working. The power feeds are running as expected. I still have some fine tuning to do before I decide to run any real projects through the lathe, but I’m at the point where I can make some chips! Check my bio for a link to a video.
