Restoring a 1940s Craftsman Drill Press – Part 4

With the table and base machined and all the parts painted, I can start assembling of the head frame. I ran into a small issue with the replacement bearings but was able to resolve it.

Fingertip Amperage Controller (Product Review)

I was sent a torch mounted amperage control unit for my PrimeWeld TIG225 from Hotlights Welding to review. I usually use my foot pedal when TIG welding, and occasionally use a torch mounted button when I need to tack something in a strange position for those situations using the pedal is difficult or inconvenient. In this video, I give this gadget a test run and share my opinion of it.

Restoring a 1940s Craftsman Drill Press – Part 3

Now that the table has been machined flat, I want to do the same thing to the base. I started off using a 2″, 3 flute, carbide insert face mill. It’s the biggest one I have. I RAN INTO MORE PROBLEMS. But managed to find a solution, I hope.

Restoring a 1940s Craftsman Drill Press – Part 2

Continuing the restoration of the 1940s drill press by moving my attention to the table. It’s got some marks in it. Should be easy enough to remove on the milling machine. I solved the challenge of work holding by making some clamps but ran into another problem I had to solve.
