The Swivel Support Bracket for the K&T Universal Milling Head has some cracks in it from years of use. In this video, I attempt to fix these cracks with TIG brazing. And I failed. I don’t think I made it too much worse, but I didn’t solve the problem.

I acquired this 24″ camelback straight edge earlier this year with the intention to hand scrape it so I can use it as a reference when rebuilding some of my machines. I borrowed a Biax scraper from Ron Grundy, a friend of mine, and decided I would give that a try instead. This will be my first time using a Biax power scraper on a real project, I expect there to be quite the learning curve.

I have learned enough machining the test pieces that I am ready to machine the real deal. This is the last in a series of machining a replacement 6 spline shaft for the Kearney & Trecker Universal Milling Head.

The second step I am taking to machine the new drive shaft. I have already made a test piece in delrin. This was to validate my calculation and drawings. Now I want to make another test piece, this time from the actual material I will be using. I want to experiment with speeds and feeds to see what I am able to get away with.
